I'm Not a Pinko!

Well, the wood supports turned out to be problematic as I couldn't get the shapes correct. In addition, the plaster cloth was not sturdy enough to avoid flexing while moving it around. So, back to the drawing board. The result - a pnk mountain (temporarily).

This has occurred after a delay of almost two months due to the Free-mo (now Speed-mo) module design effort. My total diversion has now been completed, and I only need to assist with the track planning (tomorrow) and then the actual module construction, where others will be doing most of the work.

Anyway, back to the pinko. As seen in the photo, I've cut some one-inch pink insulation foam into various shapes to replicate the white plaster mountain shape. I've removed the wooden supports attached to the backdrop and most of the Masonite supports on the elevated track. Instead, I'm using a piece of pink foam vertically to support the front edge, and I've glued some 3/4-inch square dowel to the backdrop to give more support.

I've glued the pieces of foam with Liquid Nails for Foamboard and placed weights on it (I used a scenery glue bottle because I ran out of weights). I'll wait a day or two for the glue to completely dry, and then I will use a knife and Surform tool to shape it.

Despite the module design delay, I'm now proceeding and should be able to finish the mountain shaping and covering with plaster cloth in the next week or so. I will also color the rock on the corner and finish the rest of the scenery in that corner. After that, I will work on the scenery for the mountain itself.
